The memorial of Iran Air Flight 655
They were civilians, there were only 2 or 3 handgun belonged to security guards. No bomb, No missile and no weapon that can harm a warship was with that airplane. But…
21 years ago, 3th of July, they have killed by the U.S. Navy’s guided missile cruiser USS Vincennes. No survivors! It was the highest death toll of any aviation incident in the Indian Ocean and the highest death toll of any incident involving an Airbus A300 anywhere in the world.
Vincennes was traversing the Straits of Hormuz, inside Iranian territorial waters, at the time of the attack IR655 was within Iranian airspace.
After completing their tour, the Vincennes crew was awarded Combat Action Ribbons for having actively participated in ground or surface combat, and the captain received the Legion of Merit. (The Combat Action Ribbon was also given to crews from other U.S. naval vessels who served in Persian Gulf Operations from 1987–88.)
In 1996, the United States and Iran reached “an agreement in full and final settlement of all disputes, differences, claims, counterclaims” relating to the incident at the International Court of Justice. As part of the settlement, the United States agreed to pay US$61.8 million in compensation for the Iranians killed. The United States did not admit responsibility or apologize to the Iranian government.
That was formal information about killing 290 people. I copied them form Wikipedia but my feelings are so fresh. I have no problem with US government and want really warm relations but i can not forgive some actions they have done! one them is shut down of IR655 Flight!
Yes, there was a war between Iran and Iraq but i can not understand why US marines were there and why USS Vincennes, fired at civilian airliner fight in our space territory?
Also when they say we are providing Iran protesters, i remember their previous actions: our prime minister, Dr. Mohammad Mosadegh, helping Iraq in 8 years imposed war, killing 290 people in direct fire.
I need a clearance of this actions, I want US government accept its responsibility and apologize us, i need respect and then we can accept their support.
before this, any time US politician says we are supporting Iran protest, I think this is a lie!

This really ticks me off. Our lovely media conveniently covers selective events and information. This brings tears to my eyes. At least I can say as an American, I’m so sorry this happened at all. The Navy only does what the froot loops in Washington say. I’m sure there were just as many tears on that ship. Ours guys are coming back home all messed up from these wars we shouldn’t even be in. I’m so tired of it all. Everyone hates us because of our Government. It’s really no different here than there. Politics are never really for the people, just a way to control the people whereever and whatever country they are in. The people of every country have dreams, fall in love, have passions and want to protect their families. America is the melting pot of the world. We are all foreigners here except the Native Americans. We have no right to judge anyone. That is Gods job. May God bless us all!!
